Physician Assistant – Denver, CO

Matthew Battaglia, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant at Relief Mental Health in Denver, CO. He brings more than a decade of experience in psychiatry and emergency medicine to Relief Mental Health. At Relief, he provides virtual and in-person psychiatric medication management for patients aged 7+ and SPRAVATO® (esketamine) treatment for adults facing treatment-resistant depression or major depression with suicidal thoughts or actions. His specialties include bipolar disorders, OCD, trauma-focused care (PTSD), substance use and recovery, insomnia, and support for first responders.

With a background that bridges integrative psychiatry and acute medical care, Matthew takes a holistic approach to mental health. He has treated both adults and adolescents, combining behavioral strategies with pharmacologic interventions, and has explored the role of nutrition, genomics, metabolic health, and hormones in psychiatric care.

Before joining Relief, Matthew practiced at several psychiatry and integrative health centers in Colorado and California, as well as in emergency and pediatric emergency medicine.

Matthew earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, both from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and later completed his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. He maintains certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and holds additional qualifications in emergency medicine, with a psychiatry certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in progress.

He also connects patients with adjunctive services available at Relief, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and therapy, or external resources when additional support is needed.
