What We Treat

At Relief Mental Health we offer effective solutions for a wide range of mental health diagnoses:

  • Depression
  • Anxious depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Nicotine/tobacco use disorder, a.k.a. smoking addiction

We specialize in treating people who have tried standard, traditional treatments for depression, such as talk therapy and antidepressants, but have not found relief or achieved their treatment goals, as well as those who are looking to find relief outside of medications.

Some of the most recent facts on common metal health diagnoses:

Depression:

  • More than 30% of patients diagnosed with MDD or severe depression – such as anxious depression – do not respond to traditional talk therapy or the standard combination of talk therapy and antidepressants

Obsessive-compulsive disorder:

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD):

  • Around 33% – that’s one third – of people with PTSD do not respond well to standard treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, eye movement and desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), or typical anti-anxiety medication

Nicotine/tobacco use disorder:

  • The rate of relapse for people with at least 11 months continuous abstinence from tobacco use is around 50%.

The Consequences of Untreated Mental Health

  • Partial or full disability
  • Disrupted or unstable relationships with family, friends, and peers
  • Impaired work life
  • Impaired academic achievement
  • Homelessness
  • Increased risk of substance use or misuse
  • Decreased wellbeing and quality of life
  • Unnecessary/inappropriate incarceration
  • Escalating intensity and severity of symptoms that can lead to suicide

When you engage in research on the consequences of untreated mental health diagnoses, you often find articles that detail what experts called the financial burden of untreated mental illness. That’s exactly what it sounds like: researchers attached a monetary figure to things like untreated depression, OCD, and PTSD.

Here’s what they report:

  • The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) estimates the cost of untreated mental illness in the U.S. at $300 billion per year
  • The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates the cost of two mental health diagnoses, anxiety and depression, when untreated, at close to $1,000,000,000,000 per year – that’s one trillion dollars
