Yes, treatment with SPRAVATO® is safe. SPRAVATO® nasal spray is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for :

Are there any side-effects associated with Spravato® treatment?

In some cases, patients may experience sleepiness, dizziness, and/or dissociation. Because of these potential side-effects, we administer SPRAVATO® under the guidelines established by the SPRAVATO® Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) protocol. We monitor you closely for any side-effects and/or warning signs, and a Relief clinician is always present to help address any problems or concerns if they arise during a treatment session.

How will I take Spravato®?

You’ll self-administer SPRAVATO® under the supervision of a qualified Relief Mental Health medical practitioner.

Where will I take Spravato®?

You’ll self-administer SPRAVATO® in our comfortable outpatient office environment.

How long will my SPRAVATO® sessions last?

A full session takes about two and a half hours. You arrive, spend about 15 minutes getting settled in and comfortable, then self-administer SPRAVATO® with a nasal inhaler. You remain under the observation of a trained and qualified Relief Mental Health clinician for a minimum of two hours after self-administration.

Can I drive to my appointments?

Because the potential side effects of SPRAVATO® include drowsiness, dizziness, and sedation, it’s important to arrange transportation to and from each treatment session. Although these side effects fade rapidly, the makers of SPRAVATO® include this advice on the label:

“Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything where you need to be completely alert after taking SPRAVATO®. Do not take part in these activities until the next day following a restful sleep.”

Patients receiving SPRAVATO® treatments are required to have transportation from care.

How many sessions will I need?

The exact number of treatment sessions depends on your treatment progress, how you feel about the treatment, and the input of your therapist/psychiatrist.
