Rene Buenzow, DNP, PMHNP-BC, APRN-BC
Rene Buenzow, DNP, PMHNP-BC, APRN-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Relief Mental Health in Middleton, WI. Dr. Buenzow provides psychiatric medication management and SPRAVATO® (esketamine) treatment for adults facing treatment-resistant depression or major depression with suicidal thoughts or actions.
With a background in both psychiatry and family practice, Dr. Buenzow offers an integrative approach to treatment. She has experience treating acute and chronic psychiatric diagnoses and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to connect patients with the support they need.
Her areas of interest include trauma-informed care, substance use treatment, family systems, and culturally responsive mental health services. She is also a certified High Conflict Divorce Coach, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), and holds specialty certification from the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma for family court professionals.
Dr. Buenzow earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Iowa. She also earned a Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner from Allen College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa.
She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and has served in leadership roles with the Wisconsin Nurses Association.
