Denise Styer, LCPC

THERAPIST – Virtual in All Illinois Clinics

Denise Styer, LCPC is a therapist at Relief Mental Health in Illinois. Denise provides virtual therapy to pre-teens ages 11 years and older, teens and adults. She has more than 25 years of experience in working with patients who struggle with life transitions, depression, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, emotion regulation, and other issues.

Denise is passionate about providing education on how to build an individualized and unique plan based on the patient’s personal goals and needs as well as a safe space for them to self-reflect without judgment. Denise utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused therapy to support her patients in their journey. She understands that finding mental health help can sometimes be difficult but wants people to know she can assist them in gaining the knowledge and understanding to make the changes best for them. She strives to meet her patients where they’re at by showing compassion and teaching pattern interruption, emotion recognition, and challenging the patient to create positive change.

Denise earned a doctorate in psychology in 2001 from Adler University in Chicago, a Master’s degree in 1995 from the Adler Graduate School in Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

As an integral part of the Relief Mental Health clinical team, Denise collaborates closely with other providers in Illinois to ensure patients have access to all available services, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and SPRAVATO® (esketamine).
