Susan Mueller (left), CEO, Relief Mental Health, is one of four 2024 Women-In-Business Award Honorees from the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce. This recognition highlights the growth of Relief along with our commitment to providing expedited care and pioneering treatments like TMS and Spravato for the community of Rockford and beyond.

ROCKFORD, IL – Nov. 8, 2024 –The Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce has announced Susan Mueller, CEO of Relief Mental Health, as the recipient of the 2024 Woman Business Owner of the Year Award.

This distinguished honor was presented at the Women in Business Luncheon in Rockford, Ill., on Thursday, November 7, recognizing Mueller’s exceptional impact on the mental health landscape in Rockford through her leadership, dedication, and innovative approach to care.

Mueller founded Relief Mental Health in January 2020, just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a single office in Oak Brook, Ill., and service: transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). What began as a specialized treatment offering in response to community need has since expanded into a thriving practice with multiple treatment modalities and 11 clinics across three states.

Today, in addition to TMS, Relief Mental Health provides a broad range of services, including psychiatry, therapy, and groundbreaking options like SPRAVATO® (esketamine). Under Mueller’s leadership, the organization has treated thousands of patients, meeting diverse mental health needs and improving quality of life for countless individuals.

Mueller has transformed access to mental health care in Rockford by offering advanced treatment options like TMS and SPRAVATO®. TMS, a non-invasive, FDA- cleared therapy, provides relief for patients with depression, OCD and other diagnoses by stimulating targeted areas of the brain associated with mood regulation.

SPRAVATO® offers a breakthrough for individuals with treatment-resistant depression or depression accompanied by suicidal thoughts or actions, working through a unique mechanism that delivers rapid symptom reduction. These treatments are covered by insurance and bring hope to those who have struggled to find relief through traditional options.

“At Relief Mental Health, we recognize that mental health doesn’t wait,” said Mueller. “That’s why we pride ourselves on providing expedited access to care, ensuring that patients are typically seen within a week of reaching out. This commitment to timely care can make all the difference for those in need of immediate support.”

Alongside these innovative therapies, Relief Mental Health offers a full spectrum of traditional mental health services, including psychiatry (medication management) and specialized therapies like eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma. This comprehensive approach allows Mueller’s team to address a wide array of patient needs, further cementing Relief’s position as a leader in mental health care.

A recognized voice in the mental health field, Mueller has shared her knowledge through interviews with local media, including the Rock River Current, Northwest Quarterly Magazine, and Rockford radio and television. Her forward-thinking approach, dedication to community collaboration, and drive to expand mental health awareness have established her as an influential figure both locally and
nationally.

Under Mueller’s visionary leadership, Relief Mental Health has cultivated a workplace where innovation, teamwork, and patient-centered care flourish. Her commitment to her team and community underscores the values that make Relief Mental Health a trusted and vital resource in the Rockford area and beyond.
