Lindsay McMahon, MA, MS, LAC - Therapist - Relief Mental Health

THERAPIST – Warren, NJ

Lindsay McMahon is a licensed associate counselor (LAC) at Relief Mental Health in Warren, New Jersey, with dedicated experience in the mental health field. Through in-person or virtual therapy, she works with both adolescents and adults, helping them to navigate challenges and achieve their personal goals.

Lindsay’s primary therapeutic approach is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), complemented by a person-centered approach to ensure that each treatment plan is uniquely tailored to meet the individual needs of her clients.

From the moment Lindsay and her clients begin the therapeutic journey together, her goal is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves. Lindsay’s warm and approachable style helps foster genuine connections.

Lindsay specializes in working with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, and life transitions. CBT is a highly effective, evidence-based approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. By working together to challenge and reframe these thoughts, Lindsay assists clients in developing healthier coping mechanisms and strategies to manage their mental health issues.

Alongside CBT, Lindsay embraces a person-centered approach, viewing each individual as the expert of their own life and believing in their inherent capacity for growth and change. She empowers clients to identify their strengths and build resilience and self-confidence.

In addition to her work with general mental health issues, Lindsay has experience working with athletes on confidence-building, managing external pressure, and performance anxiety. She understands the unique challenges that athletes face and is dedicated to helping them develop the mental skills necessary to perform at their best while maintaining their well-being.

Lindsay sees therapy as a partnership and believes in the power of collaboration, balancing directive guidance with allowing space for clients to explore their own solutions. Dedicated to supporting clients on their path to healing and growth, Lindsay provides an empathetic and empowering therapeutic experience.

Lindsay earned a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling and a Master of Science in sport and human performance from Adler University in Chicago, and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kean University in New Jersey. She joined Relief Mental Health in 2022 and has a passion for reading.

As part of a multi-state clinical and medical team at Relief Mental Health, Lindsay can assist clients in accessing Relief’s other services including psychiatry, psychedelic therapy (SPRAVATO® esketamine) for treatment-resistant depression, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for major depressive disorder, OCD and other diagnoses.
