Caroline Onischak, APRN, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Relief Mental Health in Northbrook, Illinois. She provides medication management and psychedelic treatment (SPRAVATO®) for patients suffering from treatment-resistant depression or major depressive disorder with suicidal thoughts or actions.

Caroline treats patients ages 13 and older with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.  She strives to make her patients feel heard, seen and understood, and provides a compassionate, nonjudgmental presence in which patients can feel comfortable sharing their past experiences and current hopes and goals. Caroline combines this understanding with her expertise in medicine, neuroscience and trauma-informed care to come up with the best treatments possible for her patients.

Caroline earned a Master of Science in nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Resurrection University in Chicago (now Oak Point University). Caroline also holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and psychology from the University of Michigan.

A member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), Caroline has created and presented talks to state and national nursing organizations on medical mimics of psychiatric disorders and on the connection between childhood trauma and adult illness, both physical and mental.

Within the framework of the Relief clinician team, Caroline collaborates closely with our other providers in Northbrook, ensuring that patients have access to alternative treatment options such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and psychotherapy.
